Last Week In Photography - More Headshots

This woman came into the studio for updated headshots. It had been a long time since she updated and wanted more current versions.

We accomplished the goal and also played with the fan to affect her hair plus different lighting for some more dramatic looks.

Last Week In Photography - Senior Yearbook Session

This fun young woman came in for a few yearbook photos and since that portion of the session went quickly we decided to add playtime to studio time.

In addition to the standard yearbook headshots we did some in motion, set some up for background alteration and then switched the lighting to the overhead beauty dish with the floor fan to add hair motion.

She was great in front of the camera and another fun session was completed.

Last Week In Photography - Headshot Session

The mission was “time for an update” and this gentleman came in to the studio for a head shot session.

We captured images with and without glasses and used two background options in a 30 minute session.

Anyone seeing this post who has head shots over a few years old can also update for a 30 minute, $175 investment. Typically the client receives 20 to 30 edited images, full and reduced sized.

Last Week In Photography - Yearbook And Headshot Sessions

This post highlights two sessions, one for a high school yearbook submission with a few extras thrown in and one for business headshots.

The cover photo was done in addition to the yearbook photo to duplicate a senior photograph done for a family member many years ago… same pose and lighting.. color and black and white.

Also just for fun we placed him in front of a stage curtain, even changing shoes to more formal versions.

The gentleman in the 2nd set of photos needed updated business headshots.. mission accomplished!

Last Week In Photography - Back In the Studio For Head Shots

After exhausting my collection of outside photos this next in line studio session transitions back inside and out of the cold.

In need of corporate head shots, this young (at least to my ancient self) man contacted me and we set an appointment for a 30 minute studio session.

It’s surprising how much can be done in a half hour and we made good use of the time.

Last Week In Photography - Two Sessions, Two Generations

One of the joys of photography is getting to meet so many different people of differing age, gender and ethnicity.

The two women highlighted in this blog post are at opposite poles in their lives, both intelligent and both charming.

The younger of the two was celebrating her graduation and looking forward to a great future, while the more mature of the two had a wealth of memories to draw on with more yet to come… great sessions, both.

Technically I changed a few of the background colors in the grad session using Photoshop from grey to shades of blue to offer some variance visually.

Last Week In Photography - Last Of The Outdoor Senior Sessions

This session goes back to the end of good weather for last year and has been sitting quietly in my files until today.

Ypsilanti’s Depot Town and Riverside Park offered locations with both scenic views and comfortable walking distances.

Being a comfortable, sunny day the session went well and this young man is now on the next step of his education.

Last Week In Photography - Cold Day In The Park

On a very (very) cold day this family gathered in Ypsilanti’s Depot Town and Riverside Park to mark a multi generational gathering.

Everyone soldiered through the day including the young lady who seemed to deal with the cold better than the rest of us older folks!

Last Week In Photography - Still More From The Park

I’m still posting some from the fall when it was warm (remember that???).

I photographed this charming woman in my studio for head shots and she requested a family session as well.

We met on a day towards the end of the season while there was still some fall color.

The kids spontaneously played in the fallen leaves which lent a fun aspect to the session.

Last Week (In The Year) In Photography - Thank You For Your Support

Looking back on 2025 has been an interesting process to say the least!

It’s been far from a placid 12 months.

A foray into metal print wall art that cost more than I made, two drop dead gorgeous, huge! coffee table books that sold on the western side of the state but went nowhere here and a collapsed retaining wall to the tune of $23,000 out of pocket on the negative side of the ledger.

On the other hand… I remain healthy at the age of 84 and still an active full time photographer.

I’ve met wonderful people and am gratified that my portrait, family, head shot and senior business has been appreciated and brought happiness to those who have supported my efforts, many of them return clients.

2026 will be a pivotal year for me professionally and personally.. I’ll share as it unfolds.

For now, thank you all… Best wishes this holiday season and may 2026 bring you and your loved ones peace and joy.

Last Week In Photography - Person And Pet Session In The Park

Another blog post going back to when we had actual nice weather with this young woman and her dog at Ann Arbor’s County Farm Park.

Between my base in Ypsilanti and the adjacent communities we’re blessed to have great outdoor spaces and on a crisp fall day this worked well.

She wanted to make sure her dog was included and that certainly happened. Great young woman and great, friendly dog all added up to a great session.

Last Week In Photography - When It Was Warm

This family session in a local park hearkens back to when it was actually warmer and colorful.

Last night we had real feel temperatures in the negative range and I remember how nice it was then. I’ve photographed the group before and this was a one year progression.

They were delightful as always and I am looking forward to next year… on another warm afternoon, please :-)

Last Week In Photography - Little Witch In The Park

I've photographed this young girl for a few years through all the different fall costumes, from Princess, Fairy Princess and military camo through to this year's witch outfit.

The really fun thing this year is she is now old enough to have actual conversations and I was able to relate to her verbally one on one for the first time.. It's a great age!

Just for fun I created a kid oriented magazine cover found in the header photo.

Last Week In Photography - Senior Near The River

I learned a lot about the local high school rowing crews on this shoot.

This young man is on the crew from Skyline High School and we went to the boat launch serving the schools in the area. This sport is very technical and we discussed rowing and cars.. great subjects to us both.

Last Week In Photography - Head Shots With Some Creative Liberty

These two people came in at separate times and I am combining the sessions here.

In one image, which I am using as the header photo, I created a made up magazine cover just to play around. (I did the same thing in last week’s blog post)

It’s astounding and a bit scary what can be created digitally!

Last Week In Photography - Studio Family Session

This great young couple came in with their two children and the studio instantly gained a huge energy bump.

Both kids were at an age where they were zoomers and explorers, non stop.. They loved being in front of the camera and it was fun to have conversations as they are just at that stage.

Also I played around and gave their father a magazine cover in Photoshop…

Last Week In Photography - Another Fall Senior Session

Still grateful for the continued but soon disappearing good weather, this young woman wanted to have her session at Gallup Park in Ann Arbor, a different location for me.

Her preference was for late afternoon to capitalize on the warm, softer lighting.

We wandered through the area, including the boat launch as well as some of the pathways paralleling the river. Her dog was part of the event and was featured along with her owner.

Again, another fun session.
