A month ago I was fortunate enough to photograph a party for Kate and Guy, a couple who found me using a Google search. They are equine owners and had Manny, their horse, trailered to the home and ensconced in a corner of the yard during the party... bucket of apples nearby for the folks to keep him happy.
At the time, I was frustrated because there was not enough room to really show his stature and presence so I recommended we meet at the stables for a follow up shoot just for fun.. offer accepted!
Manny is a Percheron, a horse breed developed in the Huisne river valley in France, which was previously known as Perche. Originally bred as a war horse, the Percheron is known for its strength, intelligence, and work ethic, which makes it a historically popular breed.
The average Percheron weighs in at over a ton and Manny certainly lives up to the reputation as a VERY large and very gentle giant.
Guy, Kate and I spent a few hours this past Sunday and I ended up with some wonderful images, some of which I'm sharing here.
